A sportswear tech pack is the working specification used to communicate how a garment should be made. It reduces assumptions during costing, sampling and production. A simple but complete pack is more useful than an attractive presentation that omits measurements or construction details.
Cover page and product identity
Give every style a unique name or code, revision date and clear front and back flat drawing. State the intended product, gender or fit category, target market and size range.
Measurement specification
List points of measurement with diagrams showing exactly where each dimension is taken. Include the base size, grading rules and tolerances where known. For stretch garments, explain whether measurements are relaxed or extended.
Materials and trims
Describe fibre composition, knit or weave, approximate GSM, stretch direction, colour and performance finish. List zips, drawcords, elastic, buttons, patches, labels and other trims. When the exact fabric is not known, describe the required function so suitable options can be proposed.
Construction details
Call out seam types, stitch appearance, reinforcement, panel joins, pocket construction, hems, necklines, waistbands and any ventilation zones. Enlarged detail sketches help prevent interpretation errors.
Artwork and branding
Provide vector logos, print dimensions, placement measurements, Pantone references and decoration method. Add separate files for complex sublimation artwork. Include neck labels, size labels, care labels, hang tags and packaging requirements.
Revision control
Use version numbers and dates. Highlight changes after each sample round and keep approved decisions in one master file. This becomes the reference for bulk quality checks and reorders.
