Decoration affects appearance, cost, fabric choice and production planning. Sublimation, embroidery and screen printing can all produce professional custom apparel, but each method solves a different design problem.
Sublimation printing
Sublimation uses heat to transfer dye into suitable polyester fibres. The colour becomes part of the fabric rather than sitting as a separate layer. It is well suited to full-colour team uniforms, gradients, all-over patterns, sponsor graphics, names and numbers. Because the printed area remains breathable, sublimation is especially useful for performance jerseys and fishing apparel.
Embroidery
Embroidery builds a design with thread. It creates a raised, premium finish that works well for chest logos, badges, initials and smaller brand marks. Stitch density, backing and design size affect weight and comfort, so very large solid embroidery is not ideal for every lightweight garment. Embroidery is widely used on polos, jackets, hoodies, caps and team presentation wear.
Screen printing
Screen printing pushes ink through prepared screens onto the garment. It produces strong solid colours and is effective for T-shirts, hoodies, training apparel and streetwear graphics. Each colour normally requires its own screen, so simple designs and larger runs can be cost efficient. Ink type and curing must match the fabric and expected stretch.
How to choose
Choose sublimation for complex full-colour polyester designs, embroidery for premium stitched branding, and screen printing for bold graphics across compatible garments. Some programmes combine methods, such as a sublimated jersey with an embroidered club badge or a screen-printed hoodie with a woven label.
Send production-ready artwork
Provide vector logos where possible, Pantone references, placement measurements and mockups. The production team should confirm limitations before sampling.
